St Charles, 06.01.21
Reception, Year 1 & 2 Wednesday 6 Jan 2021
A triple year group bubble this one! We went up to the top field for some games of ‘Pirates’, ‘Duck, duck, goose’ and a spot of mad rolling down the hill, then we went “back to your place” (as one year 2 put it) for forest school. We gathered round the fire circle for a few safety reminders and then we went on a Bear Hunt which gave the youngest of our new tribe a chance to explore. It worked better in my head when I thought I’d be ‘captaining’ a katamarang in terms of numbers, but with a few more than I expected , it was like trying to perform a tight manoeuvre with the Titanic. Thank goodness Mrs C was on board with the book as I kept forgetting where, on the hunt, we were supposed to be going next. It all went well and we trudged through grass, over a tarp stream, through the forest and onward until we reached a cave containing a scarey bear which bore an remarkable resemblance to Mrs McG. After that we played and had hot chocolate and biscuits, with a very relaxed vibe around the fire circle. Afterwards, some children continued the bear hunt theme; others built a debris shelter and a gang of boys got busy with trowels, mining for treasure. All our money worries will be solved soon with the discovery of gold, clay and a wooden narwahl horn. Treasures indeed!
